Hey,

I followed sticky note discussion Règlement de cette section with help of Google translate. I would propose following notice at ideolangues.org its "Tables of conversation" forum section:

To those who concerned: Its possible to use Google translate facility to be capable following some discussion in French. Please take care that this translation can be error-prone a lot. Anyway, if you wanna have something to add to regarding discussion and we (forum administration) don't wanna excludes you just because of your missing command of French language.

How to use Google translate:

http://translate.google.com

Set left table side to French; the right one to English (probably best translation available).

Copy the thread its url i.e. http://www.ideolangues.org/t3289-reglement-de-cette-section into left French table; Press "translate" and walaa! Languages barrier curtains are lifted somewhat ;-)

Swasti,

Traduction:

What about use of multiplicator sign tagging like this?

- May ×My× mata ×mother× es ×is× talimer ×teacher×. May mata es talimer.– My mother is a teacher.

Lidepla ×multiplied by× (in the sense getting additional value of translation) German example:

Hasima ×Niederlage×

- Nu ×Wir× bu ×nicht× gai-te ×sollten-Vergangenheit× lai ×kommen× ahir ×hierher×, – bosmen ×Bootsmann× shwo ×sprechen× a ×zu× kapitan ×Kapitän× Koffain. – Gai-te ×Sollten-Vergangenheit× go ×gehen× direktem ×direkt× a ×zu× Ostralia ×Australien×, a ×zu× Port-Jekson ×Port-Jackson×.

This somewhats follows idea of interlinear translations. Interested audience doesn't have to use dictionary again and again and again.

I think this is far too complicated. Is it readable to you ?

I often read it aloud. I did need some minimal training before I got it. But it seems to work (with ×German translation×). I got it to read aloud Lidepla sentence first, later same sentence in (very strong simplified netherless understandable for German native speakers i.e. infinitive-"stumbled" etc) German. But I have to confess that German isn't that strong fixed in word order like i.e. English. So, may work with Lidepla & ×German×, I don't know if it works with other conlang & ×nat-langues×, too.

Or do you mean process of inserting that (according me very smart) multiplicator signs "×"? I once write it, copy it by strg+c; later I only insert it only by strg+v.

I find it good to memorize new vocabulary. I understand it like some stumbling blocks of foreign vocabulary. Someones goes with text (read it); stumbles about ×translation×; stands up; read next word; ×stumbles about translation×, stands up etc. It hinders lazy flying over reading without any memorising.

That stumbling block idea to use with memorizing vocabulary I got by idea of  Stolperstein (English wikipedia).

Sometimes, in this forum, we use colors for this purpose :
Saluton, kiel vi fartas? Bone, dankon.
Hi, how are you? Fine, thanks.

On my website, I used links to reveal a translation with mouse-over : http://fr.arwelo.org/verbes/#somId2200

It looks very nice. Yes, old lernu.net had this, too. But this java-script feature seems not to work at mobile phones.

You're not the only one in this forum, that's why we don't use colors so much

In fact, the most disturbing with your method are the X. Perhaps it would look better with (square) brackets.

May [My] mata [mother] es [is] talimer [teacher]. May mata es talimer. [My mother is a teacher].
What do you think ?

I like this method ^^

But, this is good for languages with the same grammatical system as English, isn't it ?

For Japanese for example, it will look like as follows :

私の [My] 名前は [name] ベダル [bedal] です。[is.]

I don't know... maybe it will work well...

He gave an example with german, which also uses SOV order after a conjunction

Hhmmmm... seems to be personal taste. Original text has () brackets what looks:

3. Predicative adjectives and nominals

- May (my) mata (mother) es (is) talimer (teacher). May mata es talimer.– My mother is a teacher.

Hhm. I really don't have that linguistic background to say something concerning. I remember that SIL its Fieldworks Interlinear text feature seems to be capable to handle any grammatical system. SIL (English wikipedia)

Personally I like idea of interlinear translation for learning new vocabulary nested at context without need to use some dictionary. I think use of translation tags i.e. brackets or multiplicator signs etc that doesn't matter that much. Any text editor (same Sigil epub editor) has in-built "search & replace" feature. Its matter of seconds to change the translation tag.

After doing some experiments I found combination tilde middle dot quite proper markup: May ~My· mata ~mother· es ~is· talimer ~teacher·. May mata es talimer. – My mother is a teacher. (made with Sigil epub editor)

Hey,

I decided to layout Lidepla-German MaRaSheMa text vertical-karaoke-like. That best fits 4,5'' smartphones. FB epub reader (Android) also supports vertical paging (default is horizontal). The idea is to read text in the Lidepla without need to use dictionary again and again. Its also some kind of learning vocabulary in context. Its quite old concept once used for study original bible texts. I modified it somewhat for use on smartphones.

Swasti,
